Abstract

Major activities and accomplishments regarding the development of the FY 2008 Gen IV Materials Handbook are summarized. To comply with the DOE requirement to improve the Handbooks user access initiation, great efforts were made to develop a new access control system that is independent of the ORNL Universal Computer Access Management System (UCAMS) in order to facilitate global data collaboration for the Gen IV Program. The new system must also provide a high level of cyber security to protect the information contained in the Handbook. A new version, dubbed the Gen IV Materials Handbook GIF Demo, was developed and released with a companion user guide to member countries of the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) for their evaluation and as an initial step in preparation for receiving international data contributions. Significant improvements to the Handbook were also made in the areas of structure development, content expansion, international collaboration, and massive data population preparation.
