I have had an interest in how energy is captured, stored, and consumed since childhood. I enjoy collaborating with other disciplines to solve problems related to energy, chemical processing, and manufacturing. I enjoy a balance between laboratory work and desk work (modeling, analysis, and writing) when possible. I am originally from Washington state but went to graduate school in Oregon, lived in Illinois for a year, and now I’m in Tennessee. I see myself as an aspiring inventor with a wide range of interests. Lately, I’m most interested in work related to thermal energy storage, efficient industrial process heating, liquid fuels synthesis, and integrated energy systems. I also hope to get more involved in helping solve problems related to potable water, agriculture, and plastic waste. When I’m not at work, I am learning how to renovate a house, working toward becoming a foster parent, and spending time with my wife and three dogs.
