Brian Long

Brian is a Quality and Nuclear Safety professional with extensive experience in quality assurance, metallography, continuous improvement, and recently nuclear facility operations support. He began his career in Metallography and Quality, building a strong technical foundation in materials evaluation, process control, and operational excellence. Since arriving at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in September 2022, Brian has contributed to a wide range of laboratory publications, technical projects, and operational improvement initiatives supporting mission-critical activities within the organization.

Throughout his career, Brian has worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to implement continuous improvement efforts focused on enhancing safety, efficiency, compliance, and process reliability. His experience includes supporting quality management systems, performing assessments and evaluations, improving procedural effectiveness, and promoting strong quality culture principles across operational environments.

Brian currently serves as a Nuclear Quality Representative within the Nuclear Facility Safety Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he supports nuclear safety and quality assurance activities associated with facility operations and regulatory compliance. His professional background combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities that contribute to safe, effective, and compliant mission execution.
