Chelo H. Chavez

José H. Chávez (Chelo) is a Manufacturing Engineer in the Facilities and Operations Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Since 2018, he has supported the design, fabrication, and validation of mechanical and electromechanical systems across multiple research programs, including advanced manufacturing, life sciences, radiological, and laser research.

He has extensive experience in equipment design, control systems, instrumentation, and vacuum environments, and develops engineering drawings and documentation in accordance with ISO and ASME Y14.5 standards. José holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, an Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and is currently working toward an MBA at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is an ORNL Level 4 electrical worker.
