This invention involves a method for creating an intermittent occlusion or blockage in passages within the human body. The function of this device is similar to that of a fluidic valve. This device is designed to be controlled externally to the patient. Methods for fixing the device within the patient are disclosed. Also, means for determining other physiological parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate are disclosed. The application of this device to the treatment of several medical conditions is discussed.
