Orthogonally Referenced Integrated Ensemble for Navigation and Timing (ORIENT)

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

200902244

The invention (ORIENT) is a quartz timing and navigation array that provides accurate timing and position (X,Y,Z, roll, pitch, and yaw) from an orthogonal (cubic) array of quartz oscillators. The concept solves a fundamental sensitivity problem with existing proposed solutions (e.g., EQUATE in U.S. Patent 7, 472,032). Existing systems with good timing stability due to acceleration-insensitive crystals also necessarily have poor motional sensitivities and are thus not suitable for high-resolution inertial measurements required for high-quality navigation applications.
