Remotely Operated Smear Sampling System

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

201002452

  • Energy and Utilities

Remote sampling of the inside of stacks allows for analysis of stack contamination to determine proper remediation during disassembly and removal of the stack. This invention provides the capability of remotely taking multiple surface smear samples system in a highly automated system. Multiple samples can be taken before unloading the sampler. The system is simple and inexpensive, requiring only two actuators to perform the sampling task. The device protects the samples to minimize cross contamination concerns between the multiple samples.
