WPT EVSE Installation and Validation Tool

The WPT EVSE tool verifies that the receiver tuning drift does not cause any substantial increase in no load current that is detected by the portable receiver coil as an open circuit voltage (i.e., the receiver load is a very high value resistance). The presence of magnetically permeable objects in the active field zone will detune the primary inductance and thereby cause a frequency shift that can indicate obstacle presence. Objects having permeability, such as biologics and children’s toys will influence the primary capacitance and also detune the system. The EVSE installation tool can be used to validate proper obstacle recognition and shutdown sequencing of the customer WPT. The key features of WPT operating at no load and mistuned receiver coils (perhaps not mistuned, but within manufacturing variability of receiver coil and parallel capacitor capability).
