Compact High-Voltage Power Supply

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

  • Energy and Utilities

The invention relates to electrical components and more specifically to a high voltage power supply. A high-voltage dc power supply is described that is very compact and highly efficient while being mechanically and electrically robust. The supply is long lasting and solves problems of ordinary high-voltage power supplies with regard to ionization, power loss, flashover, and breakdown. An internal means for monitoring the output voltage is provided and can be used for regulation. One embodiment delivers over 100kV at 10µA (1 watt output) while consuming less than 3 watts. Applications include X-ray systems, particle accelerators, electrostatic purifiers, ionizers, copy machines, bug zappers, etc.
