Creep-Resistant, Cobalt-Free Alloys for High Temperature, Liquid-Salt Heat Exchanger Systems

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

201202936

  • Materials

The present invention comprises new high temperature alloys that can be used in contact with liquid fluorides. The alloys of the present invention have much better creep resistance than existing alloy such as “Alloy N” and are intended for applications in high temperature heat exchangers in nuclear reactors, concentrated solar power systems, and industrial heat exchangers. This particular set of alloys do not contain cobalt and can be used in applications where cobalt is not tolerated. Some of the alloys of the present invention have been specifically designed to be used at temperatures greater than 700 °C.
