  • Chemicals

This invention disclosure describes a new manufacturing approach for crystalline nanostructured semiconducting metal-containing complexes with controlled particle size with varied stoichiometries for low-cost solid state lighting, photovoltaic, electronic and energy-related applications. The low temperature process works well from 20-70 °C using known industrial equipment. By making tailored nanoparticles (NPs) with novel properties and functionalities in economic quantities, the process opens potentially new nanotechnology applications. The method is demonstrated with zinc sulfides and should be readily applicable to other metal sulfides such as CdS, CuS, SnS as well as with the similar series of tellurides or selenides as well as other metal complexes.
