Method and Apparatus for Online Switching Frequency Adjustment of Power Electronics

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

  • Energy and Utilities

This invention disclosure focuses on a universal modular device adjusting power electronics converter switching frequency, requiring only output pulse width modulation signals from its controller. The invented device aims at adjusting the switching frequency of power electronics converter outside of its digital controllers, without causing interference to normal operation. When the device is disabled, power electronics converters operate at a fixed switching frequency determined by its controllers. When the device is enabled by designated conditions such as over-temperature fault or light-load conditions, power electronics converters operate at another switching frequency changed by the proposed device regardless of the switching frequency from the controllers. The invented device featuring modular structure and universal interface circuit is able to work with power electronics converters that have various types of controllers.
