Ammonia Heat Treatment for Redox Flow Battery Electrode

The electrode properties of a battery are important for determining battery performance, and minimizing potential degradation with time. Pretreatment of electrode materials before battery assembly is one approach to improve stability. We developed a particular thermal pretreatment to a commercially available carbon felt material that results in excellent performance and stability.
