3D Metal Printing Method for Space Applications

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

  • Manufacturing

The invention allows the printing of metal objects using a very inexpensive printer. By using a special slurry, we can attain very high metal concentrations, and thus after printing and sintering, there is very little shrinkage. One of the advantages of this printer is that is allows 3-D metal printing in zero gravity as it does not use a powder bed, and the fact that it is an aqueous slurry means that it is non-flammable, like some other filamentous metal techniques.
