Composite Gel Electrolyte Membrane for Lithium Metal Batteries

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

201804191

  • Energy and Utilities

In the pursuit of higher energy density batteries, solid state electrolytes must have high ionic conductivity, high shear modulus, good chemical stability and adhesion with metallic lithium. This invention improves the room temperature ionic conductivity of polymer-ceramic composite electrolytes with high ceramic loadings (>50 wt%). In this invention the components are lithium ion conductors. The composite gel electrolyte has a room temperature conductivity of 0.1 mS/cm as well as high shear modulus.
