An adaptive time scaling method to accelerate finite element numerical analysis of transient thermal stress problems

Novel explicit finite element analysis algorithms for transient thermal stress problems. The new method yields orders of magnitude increase in computational speed while maintain sufficient accuracy compared to existing software, when used to simulate certain large and complex welding and allied 3D printing (aka additive manufacturing) of metals.
