Porous ceramic supported polymer layer membranes represent an important class of membranes that are mechanically rugged, chemically stable, and high-temperature tolerant. Frequently, the coated polymer layer on the ceramic substrate tend to crack and detach from the substrate during drying and thermal treatment processes, causing the failure of membrane fabrication. There is a need of enabling method that can allow the uniform polymer membrane layer to strongly bond to the ceramic substrate surface without any cracks or defects that adversely affect the membrane performance in selectivity and permeance.
