Cold-Climate Frostless Engine-Driven Self-Powered Heat Pump

INVENTION REFERENCE NUMBER

  • Energy and Utilities

Space heating in cold climates is largely accomplished by furnaces where air exchanges heat with flue gases of combusted fuel. Heat pumps are more energy efficient than furnaces but in cold climates their efficiency suffer due to frost accumulation on the outdoor coil. This invention disclosure presents a proposed solution for a cold-climate heat pump that operates frost-free and generates its own needed electric power for increased resiliency.
