Machine learning assisted hygrothermal design tool for durable and energy efficient building envelopes

Building Science Advisor is a web-based tool that allows users to quickly and reliably evaluate the moisture durability of their building wall designs and select the most energy-efficient and moisture-safe design. The tool includes simulated and evaluated assemblies in a database post-processed for durability indicators.Machine learning (ML) is used to evaluate existing simulation cases to create a model that can give durability answers to cases that were not simulated. The ML solution can provide unlimited solutions within the property ranges of materials and weather. Additionally, the ML-assisted tool guides the user to better solutions by recommending proper materials and layers for the design.
