The Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) Accelerator and Target Advisory Committee (ATAC) reviews and advises the Neutron Sciences Directorate (NScD) on accelerator operations and upgrades, target systems operations and upgrades, and on the Proton Power Upgrade (PPU) project technical scope and progress.
The committee meets at least annually and reports to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Associate Laboratory Director for Neutron Sciences. The ATAC is expected to address high-level strategic, programmatic, and planning issues, rather than specific implementation details. Membership on the committee is nominally for three years with the potential to extend to up to five years.
